Directions to CAL Building office: (Note: we will be down the hill from ANSYS Inc. headquarters)

Exit off I-79 at Exit 48 (Old Exit 10A) -Southpoint/Hendersonville. Turn into the Southpoint Complex on Southpoint Boulevard. Stay on Southpoint Boulevard for 1.4 miles. Straight through at the 1st stop light, straight through at the 1st stop sign (Southpoint Golf Clubhouse), straight through at the 2nd stop sign (Technology Drive), pass the lake on your left. Turn RIGHT at the 3rd stop sign (Technology Drive) - you can see the CAL building on the left, continue up the hill a short distance and turn LEFT into the parking lot below the CAL building

1:30 - 3:30 pm	ANSYS 9.0 PREVIEW Notes:  We really WILL be moving away from the "traditional" GUI to the WorkBench Environment (WBE) in the next few years.  However, as the features we need get ported to the WBE, it looks like we should ENJOY the change. New developments in "Traditional ANSYS:" new solid-shell element (SOLIDSHELL190), 8 nodes, good for thin or thick shells, like a solid brick elements but uses 1 element through wall and gives proper stiffness and deflections Rezoning: at some point during solution (fails due to element deistortion), remesh, map last good solution step to new mesh, continue - restart spotweld - automatic definition follower forces (element FOLLW201) contact diagnostic tools temperature dependent material curve fitting from material test data static cyclic symmetry acceleration defined on "components" thermal: symmetry planes for radiation model (radiosity method only) new elements SURF251/252 New developments in WBE EMAG is included in 9.0 2D simulation (requires license for Design Modeler(DM)) - create "surface body" in DM and mesh in Design Simulation (DS) beam elements have stress results in postprocessing (requires DM to build beam models) - in DM: sketch lines, define beam section, create elements insert ANSYS command scripts on any part of model tree - can bring in ANSYS features that are not yet ported to WBE yet - even run a transient solution with solution load steps by this approach allows multiple load steps (sequence ID = load step number)
