Directions to ANSYS office: (Note: we will be across the street from Mallett's office)

Exit off I-79 at Exit 48 (Old Exit 10A) -Southpoint/Hendersonville. Turn into the Southpoint Complex on Southpoint Boulevard. Stay on Southpoint Boulevard for 1.4 miles. Straight through at the 1st stop sign, straight through at the 2nd stop sign  (Southpoint Golf Clubhouse), straight through at the 3rd stop sign (Technology Drive), pass the lake on your left. Turn RIGHT at the 4th stop sign (Technology Drive), continue up the hill 0.2 miles. Then turn left onto Hillpoint Drive, go to the top of the hill, and turn right into the ANSYS parking lot.  
In the ANSYS lobby, from the receptionist's desk, the ANSYS seminar room is down the hallway to the right.

TOPIC:  ANSYS 6.1 Update, Design Xplorer®, ICEM/CFD Meshing capabilities

10:00 am - noon	Mallett Technology Inc. staff presented:  ANSYS 7.0 Update It looks like ANSYS 7.0 can still look and act like 6.1.  (Its called the "Classic ANSYS Interface"). The new "ANSYS Workbench" requires a CAD translator plug-in (like the old "Connection Product") which could even be the ANSYS AGM.  The CAD plug-in and the AGM are both added cost items. The ANSYS Environment or Workbench looks like the DesignSpace GUI, but has or will have all ANSYS functionality. New point-to-surface (i.e., node-to-target face) contact element, CONTA175 Design Xplorer® has all current ANSYS optimization capabilities (factorial runs, probabilistic (soon), design variable sweeps, etc.) will have new power & capabilities based on the CADOE acquisition last year having the Design Xplorer will involve added license costs ICEM/CFD Meshing capabilities claim they can mesh almost ANYTHING - will mesh over surface errors on volumes. looks like you need training to deal with its current form (it still looks like a CFD tool) sometime, down the road, it will be part of the ANSYS Workbench environment and we'll expect it to be easier to use and packaged to look like an ANSYS tool.
