Summer 2001 Meeting


Date:  July 17, 2001 from 9:00 am - 3:30 pm

Where:  ANSYS Headquarters, seminar room, in Southpoint, Canonsburg, PA

Directions to ANSYS office: (Note: we will be across the street from Mallett's office)

Exit off I-79 at Exit 48 (Old Exit 10A) -Southpoint/Hendersonville. Turn into the Southpoint Complex on Southpoint Boulevard. Stay on Southpoint Boulevard for 1.4 miles. Straight through at the 1st stop sign, straight through at the 2nd stop sign  (Southpoint Golf Clubhouse), straight through at the 3rd stop sign (Technology Drive), pass the lake on your left. Turn RIGHT at the 4th stop sign (Technology Drive), continue up the hill 0.2 miles. Then turn left onto Hillpoint Drive, go to the top of the hill, and turn right into the ANSYS parking lot.  
In the ANSYS lobby, from the receptionist's desk, the ANSYS seminar room is down the hallway to the right.

We observed:

  • bi-directional data exchange with the CAD program
  • mesh controls for the user
  • single parts & assemblies are accepted
  • automatic contact element detection for assemblies

(ALPHA) Release of AGM: ANSYS Geometric Modeler

  • looks much like DesignSpace 6.0
  • is a separate product (additional license)
  • parasolid (ASICS ?) based system

CANCELLATION POLICY: 
 People who reserve a seat and a lunch and then don't attend, without notifying us by the meeting RSVP deadline, are causing financial problems for the User's Group.  

DECISION:
 We will make no new policy, but will use the system of sending reminders one week before the meeting to make sure all RSVP's are still planning to attend.
